Nelson Chacón is research assistant at the Chair of Latin American History at Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt. He holds a doctorate in History (FU Berlin, 2018) with the dissertation titled “Ciencia, práctica y socialización: la apropiación de la ciencia moderna en la Nueva Granada, 1760-1800”. Currently, Dr. Chacón explores the scientific practices of European naturalists in South America during the first half of the 19th century, especially in Brazil and Colombia. His research interests range from the history of science, as well as intellectual history, global animal history and colonial history in Latin America.
