Ulla Stackmann is currently publishing her dissertation under the title The Sonic Realness of Postwar Audiopoetry: Practices and Cultural Contexts of Poetry on Sound Carriers (c. 1950s—1980s). She completed her PhD in American Studies at the KU Eichstätt. Her project was funded by the Studienstiftung and examines  the historical and aesthetic development of audiopoetry in the US, focusing on commercial and avant-gardist spoken word labels. She has translated Men Who Hate Women by the British activist Laura Bates into German (Männer die Frauen hassen, &Töchter, 2023). Her recent projects include co-editing the interdisciplinary collection Practices of Imagination – Placings of Imaginaries. She has published on postwar poetry, spoken word labels, and artistic communities after World War II. Among her research interests are 20th century US literature, media and sound studies, artistic practices, and feminist theory.
