Stefan W. Schmidt studied philosophy, psychology and mathematics at the University of Bonn. In 2013 he received his Ph.D. at the University of Wuppertal. The subject of his doctoral thesis is an analysis of Heidegger’s notion of freedom. From 2013-2014 he held a scholarship by the Fritz Thyssen foundation for his research on phenomenological theories of memory. Furthermore, he taught history and theory of design at the Peter Behrens School of Arts (University of Applied Sciences Düsseldorf) from 2015–2018. Currently, he works as lecturer at the University of Wuppertal. His main research interests lie in phenomenology, design theory, theories of space, philosophy of memory, and aesthetics.
