In this episode, Johanna Lederer is joined by Richard Costa, a doctoral candidate and research assistant at the University of Alberta. Guided by their research interests, they discuss habitat studies in the first section of the episode and Indigenous resistance in the second section of the episode.
They focus on magpies, the question of non-human agency as well as languages and translation. The second part on Indigenous resistance against settler colonial resource extraction and settler colonialism more broadly is inspired by two texts, “Tarhands: A Messy Manifesto” by Warren Cariou (Métis) and ‘The Red Deal’ by The Red Nation.
