Jens Temmen is professor for American Studies at KU Eichstätt-Ingolstadt. He received his PhD in American Studies at the graduate school “Minor Cosmopolitanisms” at the University of Potsdam with a thesis on The Territorialities of U.S. Imperialism(s). He was visiting scholar at the Center for Biographical Research at the University of Hawai’i at Manoa and visiting professor at the Centre for Anglophone Studies (CAS), Université de Toulouse-Jean Jaurès. Currently he is also fellow of the Young Academy of Sciences and Literature in Mainz. He has, among others, (co-)edited volumes on North American astroculture, transpacific studies and American Territorialities, and he is currently co-editor of the book series Critical Futures (transcript). His current research focuses on North American astroculture in the Second Space Age and its relation to discourses of planetarity, multiplanetarity, terraforming and the “New Human“.
